About

Dr. Joshua Lamb, a native of Savannah, GA, completed his undergraduate pre-medical education at Bowdoin College and obtained his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, which has been ranked the #1 hospital in the nation for 21 consecutive years.

He completed his Orthopaedic training at the Georgetown University Medical Center, followed by a foot and ankle fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, which consistently ranks as the top orthopaedic hospital in the country according to US News and World Report, which gave HSS a score of 100 out of a possible 100 in their 2013-14 rankings.

Dr. Lamb spent one year in Rwanda as a Global Surgery Fellow of Brigham and Women's Hospital.  This fellowship was created in conjunction with Partners In Health, a Boston-based organization that brings first-world medical care to resource-poor areas.  The mission statement of PIH states two important goals:  "to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair."

While in Rwanda, Dr. Lamb worked at an underserved rural hospital, training local healthcare providers and improving surgical care. He helped to expand orthopaedic services for both children and adults, treating trauma as well as oncology and musculoskeletal infections.  He also introduced the hospital to the SIGN Intramedullary Nail System for long-bone fractures and trained local surgeons in its use.

While in Boston he practiced at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and was an Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery of Harvard Medical School. He currently practices at Orthopaedic Specialists of Charleston, in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Lamb's academic interests include the treatment of lower-extremity fractures and sports-related injuries. He has a special interest in innovative surgical techniques and orthobiologics, employing both PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and stem cells when indicated.  He also performs arthroscopy and other minimally-invasive techniques whenever possible.

Dr. Lamb has a special interest in dance medicine which originated with his sister Gabrielle Lamb, Princess Grace Award-winning choreographer and former soloist at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal. During his fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery he had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. William Hamilton, former president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, renowned dance medicine practitioner and recipient of a 2011 Dance Magazine Award.   While working under Dr. Hamilton,  Dr. Lamb cared for dancers from the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet School, the School of American Ballet, and the Juilliard School, (as well as a wide range of athletes from such organizations as the the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, the New York Giants and the Long Island Rangers).  He is currently expanding his practice treating dancers and athletes (both elite and recreational).

Dr. Lamb is also an accomplished banjo and guitar player and played regularly in the Boston area with his band, Gone to Seed.
